Notes

a village of the Samaritans: Jews and Samaritans had a long history of conflict and ethnic prejudice. They hated each other (see study note on 10:33). The Samaritans worshiped on Mount Gerizim and probably assumed that Jesus was traveling to Jerusalem to worship there.
