Notes

Jesus had just told his disciples that he would suffer and die. Yet they began to argue about which of them was the greatest. This showed surprising pride and a lack of concern for what Jesus had just said.

The disciples did not understand that Jesus would soon die, which was now seen in their pride and selfish attitude.
