Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what is yours, do not demand it back.

Notes

if anyone takes what is yours, do not demand it back: This means we can stop the cycle of hate and violence by responding with good, not evil (Romans 12:17). We win the world through love that expects nothing in return.

Jesus was not promoting injustice, as though believers should let criminals take advantage of the weak. God established governments to punish evildoers (Romans 13:1–5).

The main theme of the great sermon of Jesus is that those who repent and enter the kingdom of God will live in a truly righteous way.
