Notes

Jericho was located in an oasis in the Judean wilderness, 30 kilometers (18 miles) northeast of Jerusalem. At 250 meters (820 feet) below sea level, it is the world's lowest city and one of the oldest.

This story shows again how Jesus cares for the poor and people who had less social status in Israel. It also reminds us that Jesus is the Son of David, the Christ (18:38), shortly before he enters Jerusalem as king (19:28–44).
