Notes

On the first day of the seventh month: the Israelite calendar divided into two half-years. The first half-year began with the first month, called Nisan (Babylonian name) or Abib (the older agricultural name). The second half-year began with the seventh month, known as Tishri on the modern Jewish calendar. This holiday celebration marked the start of the second half-year.
