English
…saying, “Return to your homes with your great wealth, with immense herds of livestock, with silver, gold, bronze, iron, and very many clothes. Divide with your brothers the spoil of your enemies.”

Notes

  • The great wealth was the share of the trophies of war of these tribes from the cities Israel had captured.

  • Divide with your brothers: While most of the fighting men helped the rest of Israel, some men remained to protect the women, children, and herds.

Joshua first said goodbye to the tribes east of the Jordan River when he sent them home. As usual, he urged them to remain loyal to God.
