Notes
were brought up on Joseph’s knees: Placing them on his knees at their birth was a symbolic act signifying that they came from him and belonged to him (compare Job 3:12).
Joseph lived to see his great-great-grandchildren by Ephraim, and his great-grandchildren by Manasseh. This was a sign of God's blessing (see Psalm 128:6; Proverbs 17:6; Isaiah 53:10).
