Notes

As the prophet shared his message, the scope of the threatened judgment grew, like ripples from a stone in a pond. Now, the judgment was not just for Israel, as in Ezekiel 6, but for the entire land, east, west, north, and south. This global judgment on God's people would be like the end of the world. Judgment was no longer near, as in earlier messages. It had arrived.

Ezekiel 7 contains three messages of doom (7:3–4, 5–9, 10–27). These messages reminded Judah that their coming destruction was not random. It was an act of the Lord's judgment.

These chapters discuss words and actions that warned of disaster for Jerusalem (Ezekiel 4–5) and the land of Judah (Ezekiel 6–7).
