Read Ezekiel 46

Translations

Modern
When the people of the land come before the LORD at the appointed feasts, whoever enters by the north gate to worship must go out by the south gate, and whoever enters by the south gate must go out by the north gate. No one is to return through the gate by which he entered, but each must go out by the opposite gate.
Traditional
But when the people of the land shall come before the Lord in the solemn feasts, he that entereth in by the way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate; and he that entereth by the way of the south gate shall go forth by the way of the north gate: he shall not return by the way of the gate whereby he came in, but shall go forth over against it.
Literal
And in the coming in of the people of the land before YHWH at the appointed feasts, the one coming in by way of the north gate to worship will go out by way of the south gate, and the one coming in by way of the south gate will go out by way of the north gate; he will not return by way of the gate by that he entered, but he will go out straight ahead of him.

Notes

During religious festivals, the people would present themselves before the Lord. They would walk through the temple from north to south or south to north, with the prince among them. They moved along the ordinary north-south path, not the sacred east-west path used by the priests.

Ezekiel described the prince's duties during special celebrations, including Sabbaths and new moon events. The prince represented the people in worship. He joined them in a procession through the temple and had the unique ability to approach the sacred area for them.
