Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: I have sworn with an uplifted hand that surely the nations around you will endure reproach of their own.

Therefore thus saith the Lord God; I have lifted up mine hand, Surely the heathen that are about you, they shall bear their shame.

Therefore, thus says the Lord YHWH: I—I have lifted up My hand that surely the nations that are surrounding you, they will bear their own shame!

Notes

The period of enduring the shame of mockery and plundering would now be over for Israel, and Israel’s enemies would soon endure their own shame by being mocked and plundered.

The destruction of Edom (chapter 35) would prepare the way for the restoration of the mountains of Israel, reversing the devastation threatened in chapter 6.
