Notes

The lampstand of pure, hammered gold stood on the south side of the tabernacle (26:35). It symbolized God's presence with his people.

The lamps were flat dishes holding olive oil (25:37). A wick extended into the oil and hung from a lip on one side of the dish. The dishes sat on upturned almond blossoms (25:33). The priests positioned them so that all their wicks faced the room's center (25:37).

The total number of lamps is unclear. Exodus 25:37 mentions seven lamps, but there seem to be 22 lamp cups in 25:33–34.
