Notes

In the book of Daniel, insight and understanding often refer to the meaning of God's revelation (compare Daniel 1:4; 9:13, 25; 11:33, 35). God did not promise Daniel answers to all his questions. Instead, God gave him a basic understanding of the issues. God controls history.

God answered Daniel's prayer right away by sending Gabriel, his messenger, to explain Daniel's vision. Gabriel's explanation included both the near and distant future of Daniel's people.
