Notes

Paul expands on 1:15–20: Christ is all we need for spiritual understanding.

  • Paul wants to build a stronger relationship with the Colossians, even though he has not met them. He also aims to correct false teachings that threaten their Christian community.

  • Laodicea was 10 miles northwest of Colossae.

Paul considers his own role in the widespread preaching of the good news about Jesus (1:23).
