You therefore, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

Notes

You, therefore, my child: In Greek, the word therefore connects this phrase to 1:15–18. The use of you as a directive emphasizes that Timothy's life should stand in contrast with the previous examples.

Timothy is again told to be strong and endure suffering with Paul (2:1–7; see 1:8). Timothy should find motivation in the good news about Jesus and in Paul's example (2:8–13).
