Notes

All is well! (Hebrew shalom [peace, safety, well-being]): David then asked, “Is the young man Ab-shalom shalom? (That is, “What about young Absalom? Is he all right?”) Even though Absalom had opposed him, he was still David’s son. David cared more about his son’s fate than about the well-being of the soldiers who had fought for him (2 Samuel 19:5–6).
