And it was so, when Elisha the man of God had heard that the king of Israel had rent his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, Wherefore hast thou rent thy clothes? let him come now to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.

And it came to pass, in Elisha the man of God hearing that the king of Israel had torn his garments, that he sent to the king, saying, “Why have you torn your garments? Let him come, please, to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.”

Elisha did not respect King Joram (2 Kings 3:14), but he sent the message to show the Lord's power.
