And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.

And he did evil in the eyes of YHWH and went after the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who had caused Israel to sin. He did not depart from them.

Notes

Jehoahaz ruled from 814 to 798 BC. He started ruling Israel when King Joash of Judah began repairing the Temple (2 Kings 12:6). Jehoahaz continued the state religion started by Jeroboam I (1 Kings 12:26–33), so his spiritual evaluation was negative.
