Notes

  • We do not know the exact location of Beth-eked, but it was near Jenin.

  • Ahaziah’s relatives responded to Jehu, which led to their downfall. Jehu thought their connection to Ahaziah, and indirectly to Ahab's family through his daughter Athaliah, might give them a claim to Israel's throne. In this second series of executions, Jehu once more went beyond his orders to end Ahab’s dynasty.
