Notes
Israel's history as God's people began with the exodus and peaked when God chose David as king and made Jerusalem his capital. Both the city and the dynasty were part of God's promise to David (see 1 Chronicles 28:4; compare 2 Samuel 7:8–17; Psalm 2:6–7).
