Notes

Many pilgrims traveled far from other countries and could not undergo the purification ceremonies. They were not ready to join the ceremony. Hezekiah let them eat the Passover without the sacrificial ritual, even though they were impure. He prayed for God to accept their worship. Hezekiah followed the restoration process (see 2 Chronicles 7:14).

This story of Hezekiah's Passover celebration shows the Chronicler's focus on Israel's unity, the people's spiritual readiness, and the success of following Solomon's restoration plan at the temple dedication (2 Chronicles 7:14).
