Even after these events, Jeroboam did not repent of his evil ways, but again he appointed priests for the high places from every class of people. He ordained anyone who desired to be a priest of the high places.
Traditional
After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.
Literal
After this matter, Jeroboam did not turn from his evil way, and he turned back and made from the ends of the people priests for the high places. The desiring one would fill his hand and he would become one of the priests of the high places.

Notes

Jeroboam knew what happened to the man of God, but it did not change his beliefs. His continued false religion, despite God's warnings, led to the downfall of his family line (1 Kings 14:7–11, 15–16; 15:27–30). Later Israelite kings followed his sinful ways, which eventually caused the northern kingdom to collapse (2 Kings 17:20–23).
