The leaders of this world are likely political leaders, not spiritual ones (see also 1 Corinthians 15:24; compare Acts 3:14–15; 4:10; 5:29–32).
Paul highlights God's wisdom as different from the world's wisdom. True wisdom comes from the Spirit and is revealed in the so-called "foolishness" of the good news (see 1 Corinthians 1:20–25).
