  1. Then Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to my voice? For they may say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you.’”
  2. But Moses replied, “Here I am among 600,000 men on foot, yet You say, ‘I will give them meat, and they will eat for a month.’ …
  3. But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust Me to show My holiness in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this assembly into the land that I have given them.”
  4. These were the waters of Meribah, where the Israelites quarreled with the LORD, and He showed His holiness among them.
  5. They spoke against God, saying, “Can God really prepare a table in the wilderness?
  6. Therefore the LORD heard and was filled with wrath; so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and His anger flared against Israel,
  7. …because they did not believe God or rely on His salvation.
  8. In spite of all this, they kept on sinning; despite His wonderful works, they did not believe.
  9. …do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah, in the day at Massah in the wilderness, …
  10. Our fathers in Egypt did not grasp Your wonders or remember Your abundant kindness; but they rebelled by the sea, there at the Red Sea.
  11. They despised the pleasant land; they did not believe His promise.
  12. And He replied: “Go and tell this people, ‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’

  20. And if anyone will not welcome you or heed your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town.
  21. Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.
  22. To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others: …
  23. This is why I speak to them in parables: ‘Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.’ …
  24. And He did not do many miracles there, because of their unbelief.
  25. “O unbelieving and perverse generation!” Jesus replied. “How long must I remain with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy here to Me.”
  26. Afterward the disciples came to Jesus privately and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
  27. “Because you have so little faith,” He answered. “For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
  28. For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.
  29. He went on to say, “Pay attention to what you hear. With the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and even more will be added to you.
  30. For whoever has will be given more. But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”

  46. “If You are the Christ, tell us.” Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe.
  47. But their words seemed like nonsense to them, and they did not believe the women.
  48. But we were hoping He was the One who would redeem Israel. And besides all this, it is the third day since these things took place.
  49. Then Jesus said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
  50. Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and then to enter His glory?”
  51. While they were describing these events, Jesus Himself stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” …
  52. He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him.
  53. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
  54. Do not be amazed that I said, ‘You must be born again.’
  55. Truly, truly, I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, and yet you people do not accept our testimony.
  56. If I have told you about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?

  68. On hearing it, many of His disciples said, “This is a difficult teaching. Who can accept it?” …
  69. However, there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray Him.)
  70. From that time on many of His disciples turned back and no longer walked with Him.
  71. Jesus answered them, “Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!”
  72. He was speaking about Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. For although Judas was one of the Twelve, he was later to betray Jesus.
  73. That is why I told you that you would die in your sins. For unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”
  74. But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me! …
  75. “Now we know that You have a demon!” declared the Jews. “Abraham died, and so did the prophets, yet You say that anyone who keeps Your word will never taste death.
  76. Are You greater than our father Abraham? He died, as did the prophets. Who do You claim to be?”
  77. “I already told you,” Jesus replied, “but you did not believe. The works I do in My Father’s name testify on My behalf.
  78. But because you are not My sheep, you refuse to believe.
  79. If I am not doing the works of My Father, then do not believe Me.
  80. But if I am doing them, even though you do not believe Me, believe the works themselves, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I am in the Father.”
  81. Although Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence, they still did not believe in Him. …
  82. As for anyone who hears My words and does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world.
  83. There is a judge for the one who rejects Me and does not receive My words: The word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.
  84. …the Spirit of truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you do know Him, for He abides with you and will be in you.
  85. And when He comes, He will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment:
  86. …in regard to sin, because they do not believe in Me;
  87. Then Jesus said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and look at My hands. Reach out your hand and put it into My side. Stop doubting and believe.”
  88. Watch out, then, that what was spoken by the prophets does not happen to you:
  89. ‘Look, you scoffers, wonder and perish! For I am doing a work in your days that you would never believe, even if someone told you.’”
  90. But when some of them stubbornly refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way, Paul took his disciples and left the synagogue to conduct daily discussions in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.
  91. …and saw the Lord saying to me, ‘Hurry! Leave Jerusalem quickly, because the people here will not accept your testimony about Me.’
  92. Some of them were convinced by what he said, but others refused to believe.
  93. The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness.
  94. What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God’s faithfulness?
  95. Yet he did not waver through disbelief in the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,

  100. How then can they call on the One in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach?
  101. But not all of them welcomed the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?”
  102. But as for Israel he says: “All day long I have held out My hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.”
  103. What then? What Israel was seeking, it failed to obtain, but the elect did. The others were hardened,
  104. That is correct: They were broken off because of unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid.
  105. Just as you who formerly disobeyed God have now received mercy through their disobedience, …
  106. But the one who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that is not from faith is sin.
  107. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

  109. …but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,
  110. The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
  111. Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers, but for unbelievers. Prophecy, however, is for believers, not for unbelievers.
  112. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership can righteousness have with wickedness? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness? …
  113. For this reason God will send them a powerful delusion so that they believe the lie,
  114. …in order that judgment may come upon all who have disbelieved the truth and delighted in wickedness.
  115. And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men; for not everyone holds to the faith.
  116. I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and a violent man; yet because I had acted in ignorance and unbelief, I was shown mercy.
  117. …if we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
  118. To the pure, all things are pure; but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure. Indeed, both their minds and their consciences are defiled.

  124. And without faith it is impossible to please God. For anyone who approaches Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.
  125. By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies in peace, did not perish with those who were disobedient.
  126. See to it that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if the people did not escape when they refused Him who warned them on earth, how much less will we escape if we reject Him who warns us from heaven?
  127. But he must ask in faith, without doubting, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
  128. That man should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
  129. To you who believe, then, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,”
  130. …and, “A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.” They stumble because they disobey the word—and to this they were appointed.
  131. “Where is the promise of His coming?” they will ask. “Ever since our fathers fell asleep, everything continues as it has from the beginning of creation.”
  132. Who is the liar, if it is not the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, who denies the Father and the Son.
  133. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father, but whoever confesses the Son has the Father as well.
  134. …and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and which is already in the world at this time.
  135. Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within him; whoever does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given about His Son.
  136. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
  137. Although you are fully aware of this, I want to remind you that after Jesus had delivered His people out of the land of Egypt, He destroyed those who did not believe.
  138. But to the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death.”
