  1. Make sure there is no man or woman, clan or tribe among you today whose heart turns away from the LORD our God to go and worship the gods of those nations. Make sure there is no root among you that bears such poisonous and bitter fruit,
  2. And Rehoboam did evil because he did not set his heart to seek the LORD.
  3. Who can bring out clean from unclean? No one!
  4. Is not your wickedness great? Are not your iniquities endless?
  5. For the sake of Your name, O LORD, forgive my iniquity, for it is great.

  12. “Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are as red as crimson, they will become like wool.
  13. He feeds on ashes. His deluded heart has led him astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say, “Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?”
  14. Yet they did not listen or incline their ear, but they followed the stubborn inclinations of their own evil hearts. They went backward and not forward.
  15. The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
  16. …because they kept rejecting My ordinances, refusing to walk in My statutes, and profaning My Sabbaths; for their hearts continually went after their idols.
  17. But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
  18. Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
  19. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.
  20. Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.
  21. Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is known by its fruit. …
  22. Jesus put before them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.
  23. But while everyone was asleep, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and slipped away.
  24. The field is the world, and the good seed represents the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one,
  25. …and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.
  26. “Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They do not wash their hands before they eat.” …
  27. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of eternal sin.”
  28. The good man brings good things out of the good treasure of his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil treasure of his heart. For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.
  29. And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
  30. Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
  31. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out his desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, refusing to uphold the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, because he is a liar and the father of lies.
  32. Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned. …
  33. What then shall we say? Is the law sin? Certainly not! Indeed, I would not have been mindful of sin if not for the law. For I would not have been aware of coveting if the law had not said, “Do not covet.”
  34. Did that which is good, then, become death to me? Certainly not! But in order that sin might be exposed as sin, it produced death in me through what was good, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.
  35. But the one who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that is not from faith is sin.
  36. Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven works through the whole batch of dough?
  37. And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,
  38. …in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ways of this world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience.
  39. But exhort one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
  40. See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God, and that no root of bitterness springs up to cause trouble and defile many.
  41. But each one is tempted when by his own evil desires he is lured away and enticed.
  42. Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
  43. Whoever keeps the whole law but stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.
  44. For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker.
  45. What causes conflicts and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from the passions at war within you? …
  46. Anyone, then, who knows the right thing to do, yet fails to do it, is guilty of sin.
  47. Through these He has given us His precious and magnificent promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, now that you have escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
  48. Everyone who practices sin practices lawlessness as well. Indeed, sin is lawlessness.
  49. No one who remains in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has seen Him or known Him.
  50. The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the very start. This is why the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil. …
  51. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that eternal life does not reside in a murderer.
  52. If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he should ask God, who will give life to those who commit this kind of sin. There is a sin that leads to death; I am not saying he should ask regarding that sin.
  53. All unrighteousness is sin, yet there is sin that does not lead to death.
