  1. Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they watch over your souls as those who must give an account. To this end, allow them to lead with joy and not with grief, for that would be of no advantage to you.
  2. Elders who lead effectively are worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.
  3. Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.
  4. Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which is from God. The authorities that exist have been appointed by God.
  5. Honor your father and mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
  6. Treat everyone with high regard: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.
  7. But we ask you, brothers, to acknowledge those who work diligently among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you.
  8. In love, hold them in highest regard because of their work. Live in peace with one another.
  9. Keep watch over yourselves and the entire flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood.
  10. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or empty pride, but in humility consider others more important than yourselves.
  11. It shall not be this way among you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
