Notes

As God's representative of truth, humility, and justice (see Psalm 72:1–2, 4, 7), the king can perform impressive deeds (65:5; 96:4).

The psalmist describes the royal splendor the king showed when fighting his enemies.

This psalm celebrates a royal wedding; it might have been sung on many occasions and not just at one wedding. As God’s representative, the king carried the responsibility of dispensing justice and maintaining order in God’s world (see Psalm 2).
