my head will be held high: This is a sign of victory.
The granting of the request of Psalm 27:4 leads to sacrifices with joyful shouts.
Seeking and enjoying the Lord's presence gives the psalmist confidence and security. He trusts in God's protection and looks forward to giving thanks and praise (see Psalm 18:6).
This psalm combines two types—a psalm of confidence (Psalm 27:1–6) and an individual lament (27:7–14)—united by the theme of longing for the Lord's presence. The psalmist focuses on the Lord, making his own circumstances less important. The psalmist shows strong faith by being open to the Lord's guidance, timing, and priorities.
These psalms develop the importance of:
God's care as a shepherd (Psalms 23:1; 28:9),
God's guidance (Psalms 23:2–3; 25:5; 27:11),
God's goodness (Psalms 23:6; 25:7–8; 27:13), and
living in his house (Psalms 23:6; 26:8; 27:4, 8).
