Notes

a demon possessed a man who could not speak: In the Gospels, physical disease or disability was sometimes caused by demons.

Jesus faced two challenges. He answered the first, an accusation that he was driving out demons by Satan's power (11:15), in 11:17–26. The second was a demand for "a sign from heaven" (11:16). He answered this in 11:29–32.
