Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning.

You shall not oppress your neighbor, and you shall not rob. The wage of a hireling shall not remain with you until morning.

Notes

Day laborers did not own land and were among the poorest in Israel. These workers relied on landowners for their income. A hired hand needed to receive his wages promptly to feed his family (Deuteronomy 24:15). This verse considers withholding their wages as cheating them.
