Notes

  • Earlier, Job thought God was too powerful for him to "summon" (9:19). He asked for "a mediator" and requested that God not "frighten" him (9:33–34; 13:21). Here, he showed more hope that God would give him a fair legal hearing.

  • delivered: Job wanted God to declare him innocent, not forgive him as if he were guilty (13:18; see Psalms 17:2–3; 26:1–3).
