My heart shall cry out for Moab; his fugitives shall flee unto Zoar, an heifer of three years old: for by the mounting up of Luhith with weeping shall they go it up; for in the way of Horonaim they shall raise up a cry of destruction.

Notes

  • My heart cries out over Moab: The prophet joined the mourning to show how much Moab suffered.

  • Zoar was in the southeastern part of the Dead Sea (Genesis 14:2; 19:23).

This message of judgment and sorrow was about Moab's fall. The many references to Moabite places show that Isaiah knew Moab well.
