Notes

  • I will turn My hand against you: God, who was usually Israel’s protector, would now act against them as a judge. However, his purpose was not only to punish. He planned to correct and restore his people.

  • I will thoroughly purge your dross; I will remove all your impurities.: God would use the exile in Babylon to remove the wicked from among his people and to refine those who would return.
