Those who were put in jail depended on friends and family for basic needs (see Hebrews 13:3).
the confiscation of your property: The Roman government sometimes forced people out of their homes and cities (see Acts 18:2–3). These Christians had experienced this persecution before and accepted it with joy (see Romans 5:3; James 1:2–4; 1 Peter 1:6). They looked forward to better things that will last forever (see Hebrews 11:35). God promises rewards to those who stay faithful.
After the harsh warning in Hebrews 10:26–31, there is a message of encouragement. The listeners are reminded of their past faithfulness as a positive example to follow now.
