Notes

The account in the Gospel of Matthew is slightly different (Matthew 27:3–10). We can match the two accounts by understanding the priests' purchase of the “Field of Blood” as if they acted on behalf of Judas. Also, Judas may have killed himself by hanging, but he later fell headfirst. Then his body split open, possibly when the rope broke.

The apostles waited for the promised gift of the Holy Spirit (1:4–5). All 120 disciples in Jerusalem were persisting in prayer (1:13–14). Then they chose a new apostle to replace Judas Iscariot (1:15–26).
