Notes
David first became king of Judah in Hebron and ruled there for seven and a half years (1 Chronicles 3:4; 2 Samuel 5:5). The Chronicler does not include the details of that time (see 2 Samuel 2–4) and instead focuses on David’s 33 and a half years ruling the entire nation. This began with his agreement with all the elders of Israel at Hebron (see 2 Samuel 5:1–5).
