  196. But the chief priests and Pharisees had given orders that anyone who knew where He was must report it, so that they could arrest Him.
  197. Then the Pharisees said to one another, “You can see that this is doing you no good. Look how the whole world has gone after Him!”
  198. Nevertheless, many of the leaders believed in Him. But because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue.
  199. So Judas brought a band of soldiers and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees. They arrived at the garden carrying lanterns, torches, and weapons.
  200. But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law who was honored by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a short time.
