Study note

2 Kings 13:23

Even though Israel often broke its promises, God stayed true to his covenant with Abraham (Genesis01 12:1–3; 13:15–17; 15:18–20; 17:6–8). By mentioning Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the writer highlights Israel’s spiritual connection with the Lord and its right to the promised land (see Genesis 50:24; Exodus 3:6, 15–16; 6:3, 6–8; Deuteronomy 6:10; 9:5; 34:4).
