Jeremiah describes Jehonadab as the leader of desert nomads who protested against society's corrupt religion (Jeremiah 35). Recab was a Kenite (1 Chronicles 2:55). While most nomadic Kenites lived in southern Judah, some were in Galilee (Judges 4:17; 5:24). Their opposition to the royal family's unfaithfulness may have led them to support Jehu as a savior and reformer.
