God's wrath shows his judgment against evil (1:10; 2:16; Romans 5:9; see 2 Thessalonians 1:6–10; 2:8). However, God plans for Christians to receive salvation, not encounter his wrath (2 Thessalonians 2:13–14). Christians will not suffer the terrors of the day of the Lord (1 Thessalonians 5:1–3).
