Definition

αὐτόματος -ον, and -η, -ον

(etym. doubtful; see Boisacq, Prellwitz, see word), [in LXX, Leviticus 25:5, 11, 2 Kings 19:29 (סָפִיחַ), Joshua 6:5, Job 24:24, Wis.17.6 * ;]

1. of persons, acting of one's own will.

2. Of inanimate things and natural agencies, of itself, of its own accord: γῆ Mark 4:28 (MM, see word); πύλη, Acts 12:10.
