ὑπο-στέλλω

1. to draw in, let down (ἱστίον, οὐράν, etc.).

2. to draw back, withdraw: ἑαυτόν, Galatians 2:12 (Polyb., al.; see Lft., in l). Mid., to shrink or draw back: Hebrews 10:38 (LXX); before τοῦ, with inf., Acts 20:27; οὐδέν, Acts 20:20.
