ὑπο-λαμβάνω

[in LXX: Job 2:4; 4:1 and frequently (עָנָה), Psalm 48:9 (דָּמָה pi.), Tob.6.17, Wis.17.2, 3Ma.3.8 3Mac.3.11, al. ;]

1. to take or bear up (by supporting from beneath): with accusative of person(s), Acts 1:9.

2. to receive, welcome, entertain (Xen.): 3 John 8.

3. to catch up in speech (Hdt., al.; Jb, ll. with): Luke 10:30.
