ἀντί-κειμαι

1. to lie opposite to.
2. to oppose, withstand, resist: with dative, Luke 13:17; 21:15, Galatians 5:17, 1 Timothy 1:10; as participial subst. (ὁ) ἀντικείμενος, 1 Corinthians 16:9, Philippians 1:28, 2 Thessalonians 2:4, 1 Timothy 5:14 (Cremer, 746).
