to be a προφήτης (which see), to prophesy: in the primary sense of telling forth the Divine counsels, Matthew 7:22; 26:68, Mark 14:65, Luke 1:67; 22:64, Acts 19:6, 1 Corinthians 11:4-5; 13:9; 14:1; 14:3-5; 14:24; 14:31; 14:39, Hebrews 11:3; with the idea of foretelling future events (an idea merely incidental, not essential; see Lft., Notes, 83 f.), Matthew 11:13, Acts 2:17-18" (LXX) Acts 21:9; before περί, Matthew 15:7, Mark 7:6, 1 Peter 1:10; ἐπί, with dative, Revelation 10:11; λέγων, Jude 14; ὅτι, John 11:51.
