περισσεία, -ας, ἡ

(περισσευω), [in LXX: Ecclesiastes 12:1-14 (יִתְרוֹן and cogn. forms, Ecclesiastes 1:3, al.) * ;]

1. abundance, superfluity: Romans 5:17, 2 Corinthians 8:2; 10:15, James 1:21 (so also Inscr., see LAE, 80).

2. (a) superiority (Ec, see supr.);

(b) profit (ib.).
