(παιδεύω), [in LXX chiefly for מוּסָר ;]

1. the rearing of a child (Æsch.).

2. training, learning, instruction (Plat., al.): Ephesians 6:4, 2 Timothy 3:16.

3. As in LXX (Proverbs 3:11; 15:5, al.), chasten­ing, discipline: Hebrews 12:5 (LXX), Hebrews 12:7-8, 11.
