Definition

ἐραυνάω, -ῶ late form of ἐρευνάω (Rec., ll. with; cf. Bl., § 6, 1; M, Pr., 46),

[in LXX, ἐρευν- (exc. 1 Chronicles 19:3 A), for חָפַשׂ pi., חָקַר, etc. ;]

to search, examine: John 7:52; with accusative of thing(s), John 5:39, Romans 8:27, 1 Corinthians 2:10, Revelation 2:23; before orat. obliq., 1 Peter 1:11.
