Definition

ἐπι-σκιάζω

[in LXX: Exodus 40:35 (שָׁכַן), Psalm 91:4; 140:7 (סָכַךְ), Proverbs 18:11 * ;]

to throw a shadow upon, overshadow: with dative, Acts 5:15; of a shining (Mt, l.with, and cf. Exodus 40:29, 35, 2Ma.2.8) cloud, with dative, Mark 9:7; with accusative, Matthew 17:5, Luke 9:34; metaphorically (cf. Pss, Pr, ll.with), of the Holy Spirit, Luke 1:35.
