Definition

ἐξουσιάζω

(ἐξουσία) [in LXX (frequently in Ec) chiefly for שָׁלַט ;]

1. to exercise authority (Arist.).

2. Trans., to exercise authority over: with genitive of person(s), Luke 22:25; with genitive of thing(s), 1 Corinthians 7:4; pass., to be held under authority (see Lft., Notes, 214): before ὑπό, 1 Corinthians 6:12.
